renewable energies

Energy is essential for almost all the great challenges and opportunities facing the world today. Electricity is present in all the actions of our daily lives: in employment, security, climate change, food production, access to water or our travels. Ensuring universal access to sustainable, affordable and reliable energy is essential for the survival of the planet.
For many decades, fossil fuels such as coal, oil or gas have been the main sources of electricity production, but burning high-carbon fuels produces large amounts of greenhouse gases, which contribute to climate change and have detrimental effects on welfare and the environment.
More than 1.2 billion people – one in five people in the world – live without electricity. The majority of those affected is concentrated in a dozen countries in Africa and Asia. Without electricity, women and girls have to spend hours searching for water, health clinics cannot store vaccines for children, or schoolchildren cannot do their homework when it gets dark. Another 2.8 billion people depend on firewood, charcoal, manure and coal for cooking and heating, which causes more than 4 million premature deaths a year due to air pollution in enclosed spaces. Around the world, 3 out of 10 people, or 2.1 billion people, lack access to drinking water in the walls of their home. The list of activities we rely on electricity for is endless. Guaranteeing universal access to sustainable, affordable and reliable energy to all people is essential to the realization of human rights.
In Mozambique, only 24% of the country’s population has access to electricity and 60% of its inhabitants do not have access to drinking water.
Azada Verde is committed to renewable energy to provide rural communities with sustainable access to water to practice agriculture and brighten the lives of those people who do not have electricity.
